GALAXY Backbone (GBB) Ltd, says that it will play a central role in showcasing Nigeria’s digital infrastructure to African leaders during the upcoming digital summit.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Chidi Okpala, in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said that the high-level continental engagement on digital transformation is scheduled to hold from May 19 to May 21 in Abuja.
Okpala said that the summit themed: “Building Africa’s Digital Foundations Together,” would be organised by the agency in collaboration with Smart Africa, Co-Develop and MicroSave Consulting.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event is expected to bring together policymakers, technology leaders, development partners and digital transformation stakeholders from 11 African countries.
According to him, discussions will focus on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), digital identity, secure connectivity, interoperability and inclusive digital ecosystems across Africa.
He said that as part of activities lined up for the engagement, delegates would embark on a strategic tour of Galaxy Backbone’s digital infrastructure and facilities.
“The tour is expected to provide participants with first hand insight into Nigeria’s digital transformation journey and the infrastructure supporting secure government and private sector connectivity, cloud services, digital platforms and public sector innovation.
“The infrastructure showcase will further demonstrate GBB’s role in advancing digital governance and trusted digital infrastructure in Nigeria and across the continent,” he said.
He quoted the Managing Director, GBB, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, as saying that the event would provide an opportunity for African countries to deepen collaboration and strengthen regional partnerships.
Adeyanju said it would also enable stakeholders to share approaches to building resilient and inclusive digital ecosystems that support economic growth and improve public service delivery.
He further said the engagement would feature strategic discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital future through collaboration, innovation and sustainable digital public infrastructure.
According to him, Galaxy Backbone’s participation and hosting role underscores its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda and broader continental efforts to accelerate Africa’s digital economy. (NAN)
