THE Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a reconciliation process to address grievances arising from its recently concluded primaries.
The State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Madagali, disclosed this during a State Working Committee (SWC) meeting, on Tuesday, in Yola.
Madagali said the move was aimed at uniting members and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the primaries for State Assembly, National Assembly, governorship and presidential positions.
The chairman commended party leaders, members and security agencies for ensuring a hitch-free exercise.
Madagali also lauded the Adamawa State Government for providing a conducive environment for political activities.
“We thank Almighty Allah for the peaceful and successful conduct of our primaries and appreciate all those who contributed to the process.
“We acknowledge that disagreements are inevitable in such competitive primaries but most aspirants have pledged to remain loyal to the party,” he said.
Madagali said the party was treating the 2027 elections as an immediate task and had begun strategies to consolidate its gains.
According to him, the SWC meeting was convened to design programmes for reconciliation and to enhance internal cohesion.
He added that the party had resolved about 70 to 80 per cent of post-primary issues.
“What remains is to bring everyone together to face other political parties in 2027,” he said.
Also speaking, the APC Secretary in the state, Alhaji Mustapha Ribadu, described the primaries as one of the most competitive in the party’s history.
Ribadu said about 115 aspirants contested for 25 State Assembly tickets.
He appealed to unsuccessful aspirants to remain committed, noting that losing a ticket did not amount to rejection.
He added that the party fielded candidates for all 25 State Assembly seats, eight House of Representatives positions and three senatorial districts.
Ribadu further said female participation improved, with two women emerging as House of Representatives candidates.(NAN)
