The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Tinubu of ruining the economy with his policies and weakening Nigerians’ purchasing power.
PrimeTimes Nigeria recalls that President Tinubu, upon assuming office on May 29, 2023, announced the removal of the fuel subsidy, leading to an increase in the prices of every commodity.
Speaking on the current economic hardship, Adebayo, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ programme, lamented the current standard of living in Nigeria, stressing that the situation is training citizens to become thieves.
Adebayo said SDP, if elected in 2027, will focus on healthcare, education, and improving citizens’ purchasing power.
He said, “The current living standard is training citizens to become thieves. I ran for President in 2023, but I didn’t realise I was running to be a prophet. Everything I predicted has happened.
“President Tinubu’s policies have ruined the economy and weakened Nigerians’ purchasing power, without delivering the accountability people sought.
“What we have today in Nigeria are people in power, not a government as contemplated by our constitution. The SDP will focus on healthcare, education, and improving citizens’ purchasing power. We are targeting voters who didn’t exercise their right in 2023 to boost our numbers.”
