THE President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Nguesso, has called for stronger mobilisation of resources to finance Africa’s development in a rapidly changing global economy.
Nguesso said this while declaring open the 2026 African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Annual Meetings in Brazzaville, on Tuesday.
According to him, Africa’s development needs span infrastructure, energy, agriculture, industry, digital technology, health, education and job creation.
He said meeting these demands required deeper financial markets, stronger regional institutions and expanded use of guarantees, risk-sharing tools and blended finance to attract both domestic and international capital.
The Congolese leader emphasised that the challenge on the continent was not only to raise more resources.
Nguesso said it was rather to ensure the resources were efficiently directed toward investments that could transform living conditions and strengthen economic resilience across the continent.
He said the AfDB must remain a key catalyst for Africa’s transformation by supporting governments in financing priorities, boosting industrialisation, improving governance and promoting a fairer international financial system. (NAN)
