The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Aminu Usman, has described speculation of his imminent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as false reports.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Usman made the clarification while addressing APC stakeholders during a meeting held on Monday at the Government House, Dutse.
Usman stated that the false reports circulating on social media were fabricated by certain individuals to serve their personal interests.
The deputy governor also reaffirmed his commitment to the current administration ahead of the 2027 general elections and warned those behind the rumours and propaganda to desist from spreading falsehoods that could cause unnecessary political tension in the state.
He added, “I want to make it clear that I remain a member of the APC and I have no plan to join any other party. We have been working peacefully with Governor Umar Namadi from the beginning to this day.
“Those who witnessed the 2023 general election know it was the Danmodi-Rola ticket. By the grace of God, it will be another Danmodi-Rola ticket in 2027.”
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Jigawa State North West, Babangida Hussaini, has dismissed claims that he is preparing to contest the governorship of the state in the 2027 general election.
The lawmaker described the reports as baseless, false and deliberately misleading, saying they were aimed at creating unnecessary political tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was contained in a statement personally signed by the senator and made available to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
Adamu said the allegations were mischievous and calculated to sow discord within the ruling party, warning against what he described as a growing trend of unfounded political narratives being circulated on radio platforms.
