Wike-Backed PDP Fixes Presidential Form For ₦51 Million

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has set the cost of its Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Form at ₦51 million for the 2027 elections.

According to Daily Trust, the amount was part of some of the key resolutions reached at the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the faction held on Monday at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja.

A source within the party hierarchy told the aforementioned publication that the Presidential Expression of Interest form is ₦1,000,000 while the Nomination Form is ₦50,000,000.

The party chieftain who said the amount has been approved by the NEC on Monday, 20 April, noted that the activities for PDP primaries have already commenced and will end on the 29th of May.

Even though the Minister of the FCT, who is the National Leader of the PDP faction, has declared his intentions to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, insisted that the party will present a Presidential candidate.

The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis since last year, a development that has led to the emergence of two factions.

While the Wike faction is led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the other faction is led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and is backed by the party’s governors.
