The Head of the media team of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu, Martins Ugwu, has revealed why presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, held a closed-door meeting with the Chairmen of the South East caucus of the party on Tuesday.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Obi met with the state chairmen of the ADC in Enugu on Tuesday.

Among those present at the meeting were the Enugu State Chairman-elect, Prof. Augustine Akubue, alongside counterparts from Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Ebonyi States.

Speaking after the meeting, Ugwu said the gathering was a calculated show of regional alignment toward consolidating regional party structures.

According to him, the meeting was Obi’s first with the newly elected South East Chairmen of the party in Enugu.

The meeting was not unconnected with Obi’s aspiration to contest the forthcoming ADC presidential primary and to strengthen cohesion, align leadership priorities, and deepen grassroots engagement across the South East zone.

Ugwu said the discussion was focused on reinforcing internal party democracy, as well as harmonising state-level operations.

Meanwhile, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has said the presidential ambition of Peter Obi with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is dead on arrival.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Yul, in a post via his 𝕏 handle, asserted that any political party that Peter Obi joins will scatter and be a total waste of time.

According to the movie star, the problem with the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate is not physical, and he is surprised that Peter Obi is either unaware of it or knows it but chooses to ignore it.

Yul maintained that Peter Obi cannot be the president of Nigeria at the moment.

He wrote, “Any political party Peter Obi joins will scatter. Whatever he’s doing with ADC is dead on arrival. A total waste of time. It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that.

“I’m surprised he doesn’t know this already. Or maybe he knows but chooses to ignore it. But the truth remains the truth. Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now.”
