New Flight Operations Chief with 40+ Years’ Experience Set to Elevate Safety and Performance

Capt. Banjana Bailor has been appointed as the new Director of Flight Operations at Ibom Air.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Aniekan Essienette, group manager of marketing and communication in Uyo, Bailor brings more than 20,000 flight hours and more than 40 years of aviation experience to his new position.

He joins Ibom Air with “a distinguished career spanning line flying, flight crew training, and operational management,” according to the release.

“He is a valuable asset in the airline’s ongoing pursuit of operational excellence because of his expertise in airline operations, safety management systems, and pilot leadership.”

Prior to his appointment, Bailor served in senior operational roles where he played a pivotal role in developing flight crew standards, enhancing safety culture, and implementing procedures aligned with global best practices.

“We are pleased to welcome Captain Banjana Bailor to the Ibom Air team,” stated Mr. George Uriesi, CEO of Ibom Air, in response to the appointment.

According to the statement, Bailor possesses an Airline Transport Pilot License and has a great deal of expertise operating a variety of aircraft, such as the DC-9, Saab SF-340 turboprop, CL-65 (CRJ-200 to CRJ-900), BAC 1-11 turbojet, and Boeing 737 NG. In addition, he holds an FAA license as an airplane and powerplant mechanic.

He received an Associate degree in Applied Sciences with a major in Aircraft Maintenance Technology from Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas, USA, and from Nigerian Civil Aviation Technical College (NCAT) in Zaria.

The announcement went on, “With this appointment, Ibom Air continues to strengthen its leadership team, reaffirming its commitment to be a world-class African Regional Airline.”
