Dangiwa Speaks After Tinubu Sacked Him As Minister

Arc Ahmed Dangiwa

The outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council.

Dangiwa’s exit followed Tuesday’s cabinet reshuffle, which also saw the removal of former Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Mark Chieshe, the former minister described his tenure as both an honour and a responsibility.

He said, “I wish to sincerely thank Mr President for the confidence he reposed in me to serve as Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development.”

Dangiwa added, “It has been a rare privilege to contribute to the advancement of policies and programmes aimed at expanding access to affordable housing for Nigerians.”

The former minister also thanked members of the Federal Executive Council, colleagues in government, development partners, and staff of the ministry for their support.

He said their cooperation was instrumental in implementing reforms in the housing sector.

Dangiwa noted that under the current administration, the ministry recorded progress in repositioning housing as a key driver of economic growth and social inclusion.

He listed achievements to include the rollout of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, strengthened public-private partnerships, and reforms in land administration and housing finance.

“Together, we laid strong foundations for a more structured and sustainable housing delivery system in Nigeria,” he said.

While acknowledging the directive to hand over, Dangiwa assured that the transition process would be seamless. He also reaffirmed his support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The former minister expressed confidence in the incoming leadership to build on existing progress and accelerate delivery in the sector.

He added that he remains committed to national development and would continue to support initiatives aimed at advancing housing, infrastructure, and economic growth.
