Panic as Enugu Air Flight Crashlands at Benin Airport

Several passengers were on Thursday thrown into panic after an Enugu  Air flight veered off the runway at Benin Airport.

The aircraft reportedly experienced the runway excursion after landing at the airport.

It plunged into a nearby vegetation with some of its parts damaged before coming to a halt.

Meanwhile, no casualty was recorded from the incident as the Enugu Air management confirmed in a statement issued hours after the incident that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

The local airline inaugurated last year disclosed that the aircraft had since been secured with assessment ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident.

“Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today.

“We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties.

The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures. An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway.” The statement partly read.

Meanwhile, as a result of the incident, the airline management announced that there will be temporary adjustment in its flight schedules, with affected passengers set to be duly notified.

“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.

“The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels.” The management stated.
