Breaking: Enugu Air Aircraft Suffers Runway Incident at Benin Airport

An Enugun Air carrying yet to be identified numbers of passengers on board crash landed at the Benin Airport at about 2PM Thursday afternoon and no life was lost in the incident.

The NIGERIAN OBSERVER gathered that the incident drew the attention of residents in the area following the loud noise made by the aircraft while crash landing at the premises of the Benin Airport.

According to residents in the area who gathered to watch the Aircraft, they said immediately it crash landed, aviation authorities, security and rescue personnel were on ground to ensure passengers on board were evacuated safely.

A walnut seller who identified himself as Augustine Okoro said he was passing through the back of the airport hawking when he heard a loud noise and saw a plane crashing to the ground without destruction to the body of the airplane.

Meanwhile, management of
Enugu Air has confirmed that one of its aircraft was involved in a runway incursion after landing at Benin Airport on Thursday, assuring the public that all passengers and crew are safe.

In a statement, the airline said everyone on board disembarked safely and that no injuries or casualties were recorded.

The airline noted that the aircraft has been secured, while the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures.

It added that an assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.

Enugu Air also warned that the occurrence could lead to temporary adjustments to some flight schedules.

According to the airline, passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.

The airline reaffirmed that the safety of its passengers, crew, and operations remains its highest priority, while appealing for understanding from the travelling public as investigations continue.
