Iran has issued a strong statement saying it has attacked the infrastructure of several Persian Gulf states and warned it is ready to “respond with greater force” if US attacks continue.
The move comes just a month after Iran and the US agreed to a temporary ceasefire to allow for broader diplomatic talks, an agreement that has now been shattered by a return to military confrontation at an alarming rate.
According to Tehran, the US strikes targeted civilian infrastructure including airports, railways and bridges, in what is said to be the seventh day of airstrikes inside Iran.
The Iranian government has condemned the move, calling it a clear violation of international law and evidence of what it calls “US aggression” against the country. The attacks have sparked widespread panic among civilians and disrupted normal economic and social activities in the targeted areas.
