President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has been named the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
The consensus affirmation of Sen. Lawan was conducted in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade local government area of Yobe state.
Shortly after his emergence, Lawan in a post via his verified Facebook page described the moment as a victory for democracy, unity of purpose, and collective commitment to the progress of Yobe North.
“I express my gratitude to the Almighty Allah for His infinite grace.
“I also extend my deepest appreciation to our leaders at all levels, from the national leadership of the APC to our state chapter, our respected Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, CON, and the stakeholders of Yobe North senatorial district who, through meticulous consultations and a spirit of brotherhood, declared my candidacy, following my clearance after a successful screening exercise by the party,” he posted.
He called for a peaceful, issue-based political season and assured constituents of sustained democratic dividends under the APC.
Similarly, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe South have affirmed Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai as the party’s consensus candidate for the district’s seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation followed consultations among party leaders, elders and political stakeholders across the senatorial district aimed at sustaining unity within the party.
The meeting took place at the Federal College of Education Multipurpose Hall in Potiskum Local Government Area on Monday, and was conducted by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Buba Mashio, in the presence of APC chieftains, youth groups and supporters from across the district.
Speaking shortly after the affirmation, Bomai thanked party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him and pledged continued dedication to the people of the district.
“I want to sincerely thank our party leaders, elders, stakeholders and supporters across Yobe South Senatorial District for the support and confidence they have reposed in me.
“I remain committed to serving our people diligently and ensuring that the interests of Yobe South continue to receive the attention they deserve”, he said.

The Monday’s APC senatorial primary election saw the emergence of the following as candidates for the three Yobe State senatorial seats:
1. Gov. Mai Mala Buni — Yobe East Senatorial District
2. Sen. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan — Yobe North Senatorial District
3. Sen. Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai — Yobe South Senatorial District
