The Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani Campaign Council has rejected what it described as “the purported result announced” for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District primary election, stating that it does not recognise the outcome as a true reflection of the will of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the zone.

Cafra Caino, Deputy Director General of the Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani Campaign Council, while addressing journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, called on the APC National Working Committee, the APC Electoral Committee for Kaduna State, and all relevant party organs to immediately investigate the irregularities and address the flawed process.

He said, “We hereby appeal for a redress in the outcome of the primary election in line with party guidelines and democratic principles.”

Caino urged all supporters of Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani and APC members in Kaduna Central to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that they are committed to pursuing redress through constitutional and party mechanisms.

He said the campaign council remained committed to internal democracy and would not stand by while the will of the people is subverted, adding that they trust party leadership will act swiftly to protect the integrity of the APC and ensure justice is served.

He explained that the purported primary election fell short of the standards stipulated by the APC National Working Committee, noting that the process was not transparent and raised serious questions about the integrity of the exercise.

He added that the primary election, which ought to have been a family affair aimed at strengthening internal democracy and cohesion within the party, fell short of all required standards and procedures.
