Former lawmaker, Kabiru Lawal, has declared support for Desmond Elliot’s fourth-term bid to represent Surulere 1 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Lawal described Elliot’s leadership as sincere, open and beneficial to the constituency.
According to Vanguard, Lawal said that although the ticket was once taken from him for Elliot, the actor-turned-lawmaker had justified the confidence reposed in him.
He said, “They say the ticket was taken from Kabiru Lawal for Desmond, and at that time, Kabiru was doing quite well. It is true, but there was a reason for it.
“But today, I say boldly that Desmond, who came into office then, has performed better than Kabiru Lawal.”
The former lawmaker appealed to party leaders to support Elliot for another term, saying Surulere would benefit more from his experience.
He added, “Our appeal to the leader is to extend the love he has always shown Surulere by supporting Desmond because, with his support, Surulere stands to benefit more than having a neophyte in the Assembly.
“Barakat is already in the cabinet. Let her remain there and allow Desmond to go for one more term, after which it can end.”
