Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC), debunking alleged defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
This is coming days after his dramatic exit at the APC’s screening exercise which had raised speculations of the party’s rejection of his re-election bid.
NPO Reported that Fubara had on Sunday stormed out of the screening exercise venue in Abuja barely 20 minutes after his arrival.
He would then turn down journalists request for interview, declaring no comment as he stepped into his car.
The development would be followed by the release of the Rivers State House of Assembly aspirants screening results which saw all the governor’s loyalists failed.
This had since sparked speculations of Fubara’s possible defection with some reports claiming he had joined the NDC.
Reacting to the claims while addressing newsmen on Wednesday, Fubara denied defecting to the NDC as he held that he remains a member of the APC.
“I know that there have been a lot of drama in the media. I’m a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and nothing has change.
“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from the social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly.
“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of the All Progressives Congress and I remain a member.’ He said.
The Rivers governor however expressed readiness to accept whatever verdicts the party issues over his re-election bid.
“Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interest of the party.” He added.
