The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest the Agege Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa, a sixth-term lawmaker in the State House of Assembly, made this known on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Agege, Lagos.
According to him, he joined the race for the federal legislative position after leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area encouraged him to do so.
“I answered the call of our leaders and stakeholders who believe I can serve Agege better,” Obasa told party members.
He urged party members to remain united and committed as the party prepares for its primary elections.

While addressing the gathering, the Speaker also appealed to party members and stakeholders to support the aspiration of the former Chairman of Agege Local Government Council, Ganiyu Egunjobi, who is seeking to represent Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“Egunjobi has served our people diligently and deserves the support of all loyal party members,” he added.
He further endorsed Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo for the Agege Constituency II seat in the State Assembly.
“We must present candidates with capacity, loyalty, and commitment to the progress of Agege,” he said.
Obasa’s declaration adds to the growing list of APC aspirants in the Agege Local Government area of Lagos as political activity in the axis heightens ahead of the party primaries.
