A philanthropist, Dr Christopher Ndubuisi, has pledged to provide a solar power system for the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Anambra.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr Maureen Umeakuewulu.
According to the statement, Ndubuisi, popularly known as “Ikenga Umuawulu”, also donated N20,000 each to in-patients at the hospital, drawing appreciation from patients and their families.
The donations were made during a courtesy visit to Umeakuewulu.
The CMD said the visit reflected Ndubuisi’s enduring philosophy of “Let Love Lead”.
Ndubuisi congratulated Umeakuewulu on her appointment as Chief Medical Director of the hospital, describing her as a distinguished consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a strong record in women’s health and medical leadership.
He also commended the Governor of Anambra, Dr Chukwuma Soludo, for his visionary and merit-based appointment.
According to him, Umeakuewulu’s experience and previous role as President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria FCT Chapter position her to drive excellence and transformation at the hospital.
Ndubuisi stressed that excellence was a collective responsibility and urged stakeholders to support efforts to reposition the hospital for greater impact.
“This is a critical intervention aimed at ensuring steady electricity, improving patient care conditions, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting uninterrupted medical services,” he said on the planned solar power project.
He added that the cash support to patients was intended to ease their burden and encourage hope during treatment.
Ndubuisi also urged the hospital management to strive for the highest standards in healthcare delivery.
Meanwhile, Umeakuewulu expressed appreciation for the visit and support, describing the intervention as vital to the growth of the hospital.
She called on stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to support the institution, noting that collective commitment remained key to building a world-class healthcare facility. NAN
