Nigerian socialite Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has broken his silence after losing his primary election.
Kemi Filani reported that Cubana was vying for the APC’s ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, he lost to Canice More Nwachukwu, the incumbent for the constituency. Nwachukwu is serving his second term.
Speaking out in a video that’s going viral, Chief Priest said he only got 14 votes in the primary.
The socialite described himself as a hustler, hence why he doesn’t regret trying to contest for a position. However, his only regret was trusting the elders in the community, knowing how much he had given them.
Recall that Cubana Chief Priest has been very supportive of the current government and APC.
Also, he was appointed as Imo State director of City Boy Movement, CBM, the youth-focused support group for Tinubu’s re-election.
Chief Priest, who used to be a die-hard fan and supporter of Peter Obi, surprised many when he switched teams to President Tinubu.
In February, Chief Priest had shared a video of the buses Igbo businessmen donated to support Tinubu’s re-election. Chief Priest stated that their minds are made up and their goal is to deliver Tinubu and make him a favourite among South Easterners. The socialite added that they wouldn’t be on the bench for another four years, declaring that removing Tinubu is impossible and stating that no party comes close.
Reacting to the criticisms, Davido’s best friend said that if supporting Tinubu is betrayal for an Igbo man, then what is a Yoruba man supporting Peter Obi? He noted that Tinubu is 20 steps ahead and admonished people to follow those who know the road.
In his comment section, an Igbo youth expresses betrayal over their support. Chief Priest responded, questioning whether it was his money they used in buying the buses. He made him know that they’re just starting.
