The Police Command in Oyo State said it deployed adequate personnel to Computer-Based Test centres in the state to ensure a hitch-free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is scheduled to hold from Thursday, April 16 to April 25.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, in a statement made available to journaliats on Thursday in Ibadan, said that equally CP Abimbola Olugbenga has ordered enhanced police visibility on major roads and critical points in the state.
“Officers on stop-and-search duties have been specifically directed to be proactive, professional, courteous and ensure candidates and other commuters traveling for the examination reach their destinations safely without undue hindrance,” he said.
Olayinka further said that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and supervisory officers have been charged to take full responsibility of their respective jurisdictions and ensure no untoward incidents are recorded throughout the period.
He assured members of the public, especially candidates and parents, of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
