DAVID Kente, the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election has declared that Taraba required decisive leadership to reposition it for development.
Kente made the declaration on Friday during a visit to the state APC chairman, other party officials and stakeholders in Jalingo.
He noted that the current administration has not delivered tangible results despite being in office for nearly three years.
He maintained that the state’s potentials in agriculture, solid minerals, and human capital remained largely untapped due to poor leadership direction.
The aspirant said his ambition was driven by the need to reposition Taraba and restore public confidence in governance.
He promised to prioritise projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of ordinary citizens if elected.
“Taraba under the watch of the present administration has nothing to show in three years.
“We cannot continue like this when our people are yearning for jobs and basic infrastructure,” he said.
Kente, a retired Director of Finance with the National Assemby maintained that his experience in business and public service had prepared him to address the challenges confronting the state.
He emphasised that his approach would be people-centered, focusing on inclusive growth rather than politics of exclusion.
He urged APC members in Taraba to remain united and ensure that the party presented its strongest candidate for the governorship race.
He said his administration would focus on reviving agriculture, improving healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality education, and creating opportunities for young people.
“Leadership is about service, not personal enrichment. My goal is to give Taraba the kind of government that works for everyone, not just a few,” he added.
Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, state APC chairman, who received Kente commended his commitment to the party and his grassroots mobilisation efforts.
Bawa noted that the aspirant”s entry into the race had energised the party base and broadened discussions ahead of the primaries. (NAN)
