The mother of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Abdulsamad Jamiu, has demanded justice following the death of her son during a crossfire between troops and suspected armed robbers in Abuja.
In a video posted on 𝕏 by Abuja PR, the grieving mother was seen weeping as she lamented the loss.
“Here we are today, Nigeria has happened to me. I need justice, please. They killed him. They came for him,” she cried.
PrimeTimes Nigeria had earlier reported that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of April 25, 2026, at Shagari Estate in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Residents were reportedly thrown into panic after suspected armed robbers attacked the estate, prompting a response from troops of the Guards Brigade.
Reacting to the development, the Headquarters Guards Brigade described the death as unfortunate and heartbreaking.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Lieutenant Olawuyi Odunola, the Brigade extended condolences to the bereaved family and others affected.
“We share in their grief and stand in solidarity with them during this moment of profound sorrow,” the statement read.
The Brigade confirmed that a full investigation had been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It also disclosed that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at Kubwa General Hospital.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property, the military said it would review its operational procedures to prevent similar occurrences.
“Guards Brigade affirms its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory,” the statement added.
The Brigade urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
