The Renewed Hope Labourers Network has described the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of Finance as a strong indication that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is demonstrating adaptive and performance-driven leadership.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Barrister Godwin Onwe, the group likened the President’s decision to that of a seasoned coach who understands when to introduce new energy into a team.
It said the move reflects a pragmatic and results-oriented leadership style capable of responding to Nigeria’s evolving economic realities.
“The appointment of Taiwo Oyedele is a bold and strategic decision. It reflects the President’s capacity to reassess performance and reposition his economic team in line with national priorities,” the statement read.
The group noted that Oyedele brings extensive experience in tax policy and fiscal reforms, having previously served as a senior executive at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
It added that he played a key role in Nigeria’s recent tax reform efforts as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
According to the group, his experience positions him to address critical challenges in revenue mobilisation, fiscal governance, and economic restructuring.
The network said Oyedele’s reform approach is centred on building an economy that benefits ordinary Nigerians, especially small businesses and low-income earners.
It noted that his policy direction emphasises simplifying the tax system, improving compliance, and expanding the revenue base without overburdening vulnerable groups.
“This appointment should be seen as part of a broader effort to build a more equitable fiscal system that promotes growth and fairness,” the statement added.
The group urged stakeholders across political and economic sectors to support the administration’s reform agenda, stressing that fiscal transformation requires collective effort.
“At a time of complex economic pressures, it is important to support decisions aimed at strengthening institutions and ensuring economic stability,” Onwe said.
The Renewed Hope Labourers Network reaffirmed its support for the President, noting that the deployment of technocratic expertise in key sectors reflects a commitment to long-term development.
