Terrorism: ‘Nigerian Govt Officials Are Complicit In Facilitating These Atrocities’ – Ted Cruz Tells US Senate

Ted Cruz

United States Senator, Ted Cruz, has accused Nigerian government officials of facilitating violence and terrorism against Christians in the country.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Cruz made the allegation on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, lamenting that despite the government’s promises to tackle the security crisis, more Christians are being killed.

According to the lawmaker, since 2009, the Islamic jihadists have murdered more than 50,000 Christians in Nigeria, and more than 20,000 churches, schools and religious institutions have been destroyed.

Cruz said while some states are still practising sharia law, the Federal Government has decided to overlook, as terrorists continue to launch mayhem on unsuspecting citizens.

He said, “More Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world.

“Since 2009, the Islamic jihadists have murdered more than 50,000 Christians in Nigeria, more than 20,000 churches, schools and religious institutions have been destroyed.

“Scores of Christians and several others were kidnapped. Nigerian officials have, unfortunately, been complicit in facilitating these atrocities. The government looks the other way at the violence.

“The result is unsurprisingly more Islamic jihadists violence”.

Meanwhile, Ted Cruz recently claimed that the Federal Government is aware of policies fueling alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria.

He alleged that the government has, however, chosen media manipulation over accountability.

Speaking via a statement he shared on his X account on Friday, the American lawmaker stated that the Nigerian government has embarked on a PR campaign to fight the allegations levelled against them.
