The Force Disciplinary Committee, or FDC, has been established by the Nigeria Police Force to evaluate unresolved disciplinary matters pertaining to 167 senior police officers who are accused of professional conduct infractions and other connected offenses.
This initiative, which is presently underway at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, is part of continuous efforts to improve internal accountability, enforce discipline, and uphold professional standards throughout the Nigeria Police Force, according to DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the Force Public Relations Officer.
One important internal process is the Force Disciplinary Committee, which is responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases involving senior officers holding the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
This process guarantees a comprehensive, transparent, and equitable evaluation of all cases in accordance with existing laws and regulations, leading to suitable recommendations for the Police Service Commission.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to discipline, integrity, and professionalism, asserting that no officer found guilty of misconduct will be protected from due process.
The IGP emphasized that the present disciplinary measures are part of broader institutional reforms designed to fortify internal control mechanisms, encourage ethical behavior, and boost public trust in the Force.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its dedication to upholding the greatest standards of responsibility and service, making sure that every officer behaves in line with the fundamental principles of the field.
