Big30 will remain in custody for now as the federal case involving Pooh Shiesty and the alleged kidnapping of Gucci Mane moves forward.
The Memphis rapper, whose real name is Rodney Wright Jr., appeared in federal court in Tennessee on Monday, April 6, alongside several co-defendants tied to the case. A magistrate judge initially set Wright’s bond at $100,000, but the order was quickly stayed at prosecutors’ request.
Federal prosecutors asked for a stay so they could challenge the bond decision before the judge overseeing the case in Texas, where the alleged incident occurred.
According to court filings, prosecutors argued that Wright should remain jailed because of “the seriousness of the defendant’s offense conduct, his criminal history, and the potential danger that the defendant poses to the community.”
Texas District Judge Ed Kinkeade later ruled that Wright would stay behind bars and be transferred to Texas while the dispute over his release continues.
Prosecutors have until April 13 to file their arguments against bond. Wright’s attorneys will have one week to respond.

Pooh Shiesty, born Lontrell Williams Jr., was arrested separately in Texas. He and eight others, including Wright and Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., are accused of robbing Gucci Mane at a Dallas recording studio and forcing him to sign documents ending Shiesty’s contract with 1017 Records. Shitesy has since spoken out about the incident, accusing Offset of being a “rat.”
“The last thing I seen was Offset looking at me like this, ‘Yo, that n—a shot me. That n—a shot me.’ La la la. N—a is a rat. n—a is a rat. I don’t do no damn fighting,” he said before adding, “I didn’t do no damn fighting. Did I shoot Offset? That s–t is crazy. […] I’ll slap the s–t out of Offset. He would never play with me like that in his life.”
Big30 gained national attention through collaborations with Pooh Shiesty, including the 2021 mixtape Still King, and later released his debut album Last Man Standing.
