2027: ADC Can Present Ancient Of Days, Atiku, But Avoid Peter Obi, El-Rufai – Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju

Nigerian lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has cautioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against presenting former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as its 2027 presidential candidate.

He also warned against presenting former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, noting that his grouse against both men is personal.

However, Adeyanju said the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, are acceptable candidates.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the lawyer, in a post on Thursday via his Facebook account, however, declared that to be able to attract voters and defeat the All Progressives Congress (ADC), the ADC must do the unthinkable by presenting a younger person, a new face in the game, who is till in his 40s.

According to him, such a move will be a game-changer and swing votes in favour of the ADC.

He wrote, “The only people I don’t wan to hear the opposition present is Obi, ElRufai or someone like Malami but every other person is ok including ancient of days Atiku. It’s personal with Obi and ElRufai. But if they are smart, they will present a new face of someone in his 40s especially from the north to excite voters. And there are so many candidates like that in the north and all over the country. To defeat Tinubu, ADC must do the unthinkable or worst case scenario present Kwankwaso, Tambuwal or Amaechi but not good enough. A new face of someone who is very young will turn the election into a referendum against the APC.”
