Lil Nas X appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on April 6 and was accepted into a mental health diversion program following his August 2025 arrest.
A judge ruled that the Grammy award-winning rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, alleged conduct was “aberrant from his normal conduct” and linked to his later diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
If he follows his treatment plan and stays out of trouble for the next two years, the charges against him will be dismissed.

“I’m thankful. Just very thankful,” Hill said outside the courthouse. “It could have been much worse.”
Hill rose to fame in 2019 with his breakout hit “Old Town Road” before releasing chart-topping songs, including “Panini.”
According to his attorney, Hill voluntarily entered treatment at a facility in Arizona after the arrest and completed nearly two months of inpatient care. He now attends weekly therapy and regularly sees a psychiatrist.
The arrest happened after police responded to reports that he was walking in traffic in Studio City wearing only underwear and cowboy boots. Prosecutors alleged he injured three officers during the encounter.
“Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all,” Hill said after his release. “That was terrifying.”
