One of the men connected to the 2018 murder of XXXTENTACION is out of prison after serving five years behind bars.
Robert Allen, who was charged alongside three other men in the rapper’s killing, has been released after completing the sentence he received through a plea agreement. Allen became a key witness in the case after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery and later testified against the other three defendants.
During the 2023 trial, Allen described how the group followed XXXTENTACION before the June 18, 2018 shooting outside a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Authorities said the 20-year-old rapper had just withdrawn $50,000, making him a target.
Allen told jurors he was present during the robbery and admitted the group planned to take the money. In exchange for his testimony, he was sentenced to five years in prison followed by probation.

When handing down his sentence, the judge told Allen that he believed he was remorseful.
“I genuinely believe that you are sorry for what you’ve done and not merely sorry for yourself, and I think the remorse that you’ve shown is genuine,” Judge Michael Usan told Allen at the court hearing.
“To say I’m sorry does not even begin the true inner remorse I want to make known,” Allen told the court. “I know that these words that I will speak will never erase the pain and sorrow and loss of what the family will have from now on. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about what happened and beg for forgiveness from God.”
The remaining defendants, Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome and Dedrick Williams, were convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in 2023. All three received life sentences without parole.
