The NBA Lawyers in the Media Forum, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a historic moment for the legal profession.
In a congratulatory message signed by its Chairman, Ustadh Adam O. Adedimeji, Esq., the forum said Badejo-Okusanya’s victory as the first woman elected NBA president and only the second woman to lead the association in its 93-year history had broken a major barrier and set a new standard for leadership in the profession.
“Your emergence is historic. As the first woman to be elected President of the NBA, and only the second woman to lead the Bar in its 93-year history, you have broken a significant glass ceiling and set a new standard for leadership, competence, and excellence within our profession.”
The group commended her distinguished career, citing her service as General Counsel to the Lagos State Governor’s Office, Senior Special Assistant on Justice Sector Reform, and Chairman of the NBA Annual General Conference Planning Committee.
“From your distinguished service as General Counsel to the Lagos State Governor’s Office and Senior Special Assistant on Justice Sector Reform, to your sterling leadership as Chairman of the NBA Annual General Conference Planning Committee, you have consistently demonstrated vision, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.”
It said her professional accomplishments reflect vision, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law, expressing confidence that she possesses the experience and capacity to unite the Bar at a critical time for the legal profession.
The group also pledged its support for her administration, expressing optimism that her leadership would strengthen the NBA’s role in promoting access to justice, protecting the independence of the Bar, advancing the welfare of lawyers and deepening public confidence in Nigeria’s legal system.
“Once again, congratulations, Madam President. The Bar is proud of you. Nigeria is proud of you,” the statement concluded.
