Oluwabukolami Adeyemi, a Nigerian scholar from Kogi State, has achieved another remarkable academic milestone after graduating with a first-class degree in Law from a university in Newcastle, United Kingdom.

Adeyemi, who hails from Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, gained national recognition in 2023 after emerging as the overall best performer in the Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level Examinations among more than 100 candidates from over 100 countries.

Her outstanding academic performance attracted commendations from prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, among others.

Following her achievement, Adeyemi was honoured by the then Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who received her at the Government House in August 2023. Impressed by her academic excellence, Bello offered her a scholarship to study Law in the United Kingdom, covering her tuition fees, accommodation and other educational expenses throughout her programme.

Adeyemi has now justified the investment by graduating with first-class honours in Law, further highlighting her commitment to academic excellence.

Pleased with her achievement, former Governor Bello has offered her another scholarship opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

In a video message expressing her appreciation, Adeyemi thanked Bello for supporting her educational journey, describing his intervention as a life-changing opportunity.

Her father, Olumide Adeyemi, also expressed gratitude to the former governor, saying the scholarship helped his daughter achieve a dream that would have been difficult to accomplish despite her strong academic ability.

He praised Bello for supporting talented young people and prayed for continued success, good health and fulfilment for the former governor.

Adeyemi’s latest achievement adds to her growing list of academic accomplishments. In 2023, she was celebrated after receiving the Cambridge award for recording the highest scores in the 2022 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level Examinations among students across 146 countries.

Her journey has continued to inspire conversations around the importance of supporting academic excellence and investing in young talents.

Through her performance, Adeyemi has demonstrated the impact of educational opportunities in helping gifted students reach their full potential, while also serving as an example to other young Nigerians pursuing excellence both at home and abroad.
