Former Director of Army Public Relations, General Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd), has said that anyone who visits the military cemetery at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri will gain a deeper understanding of the enormous sacrifices made by Nigerian soldiers in the defence of the country.
According to him, the experience of walking through the cemetery is so emotional and sobering that no visitor leaves without being profoundly affected.
Usman explained that the vast majority of the soldiers buried at the cemetery did not die from natural causes such as malaria, fever, heart disease or other illnesses.
