THE Edo Queens Football Club of Benin was on Sunday crowned the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League champions at the conclusion of the Suoer Six playoffs held in Port Harcourt.
Speaking with journalists after the historic feat, the renowned sportspreneur and FIFA Licensed agent, Drew Uyi, congratulated the Edo Queens and the good people of Edo State, acknowledging the efforts of the Edo State Government, as well as, the Chairman of the Edo Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, in ensuring that the state female football team was encouraged before and during the NWFL Super Six playoffs.
Uyi praised the Chairman of the Bendel Insurance Football Club, Jarrett Tenebe, for transforming the fortunes of the Edo Gunners since returning to the NPFL.
“It is particularly worthy to acknowledge the efforts of Jarrett Tenebe in the positive turnaround of the fortunes of Bendel Insurance FC. And that aura and professionalism have influenced the fortunes of Edo Queens.
“I’m equally happy that Tenebe is also the Chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress. And it portends better future for the development of sports in Edo State,” he said.
