The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwole Oluyede, has condemned the delayed voting process in the ongoing Ekiti State election
Oloyede cast his vote at Ward 2, Unit 3, Osagboru Hall in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Speaking to journalists after casting his vote, the candidate said the electoral process was poorly managed and had left many voters waiting for hours with little progress.
The process is actually useless,” he said. “People have been here for about one and a half hours and only five people have voted in my polling unit.”
He expressed concern about the slow pace of accreditation and voting, noting it has become a recurring problem in elections.
“That’s what they do all the time. So I am suspecting that there’s something wrong with the INEC process,” he said.
He also raised concerns over the heavy security presence, alleging intimidation and harassment of voters and party members.
“Go down there and see the army of policemen. They are using false vehicles. I taped them. I have evidence of that and I will show you when it’s appropriate,” he said.
“You cannot disenfranchise these people. It is sad for democracy in Nigeria,” he added.
Despite his criticism, the PDP candidate expressed confidence that the election would still go in his favour, insisting that his supporters remained calm and committed.
“I am still very confident that my people are going to stay here peacefully and win this election,” he said.
