BREAKING: US Supreme Court Rules Against Trump’s Bid to Restrict Birthright Citizenship

The United States Supreme Court on Tuesday has rejected President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to restrict birthright citizenship.

Trump signed the order on his first day back in office in January last year as part of his administration’s broader immigration crackdown.

The executive order aimed to deny automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to undocumented immigrants and temporary migrants.

A federal court, however, blocked the measure, ruling that it conflicted with the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, prompting the case to be taken to the Supreme Court.

Despite its conservative majority, the Supreme Court ruled against the executive order, dealing a setback to Trump’s immigration policy.
