A teacher killed during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Adesiyan Adegboye, will be buried today in Ogbomoso.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Adegboye was among those killed when gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, last Friday morning.
According to details from the burial arrangement made available in Ibadan on Thursday, the 49-year-old teacher will be laid to rest at his residence in the Owolake area of Ogbomoso.
The late teacher, who was born on December 11, 1976, was said to have been attacked and killed during the invasion carried out by suspected bandits around 9:30am.
The attack caused panic across the affected communities as many teachers and pupils were kidnapped during the incident.
The gunmen stormed the three schools at the same time, forcing students and workers into fear and confusion.
Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited the area on Saturday.
More detectives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja were later sent to join security operatives already working in the area to help rescue the kidnapped victims.
Security agencies were directed to intensify efforts to ensure the abducted teachers and pupils were safely returned.
The incident has continued to create fear in Ogbomoso and nearby communities, with many residents worried about possible fresh attacks.
