AN illustrious son of Obosi, Prof. Nnamdi Onyire, has described the APGA flag bearer for the 2027 Idemili North Constituency, Anambra assembly election, Hon. Kingsley Onochie, as a role-model for aspiring young politicians.
Onyire’s depiction of Hon. Onyire as a role model for young aspiring politicians came against the background of Onochie’s emergence as the APGA flag bearer for that Anambra assembly election.
Speaking to this reporter in his office, Prof. Onyire, who is a professor of medicine at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi state, said that Onochie had acquitted himself very well in the area of political apprenticeship.
“Barr. Onochie is a role model for young aspiring politicians because he had passed through political tutelage before he got the APGA ticket for the Idemili North Constituency, Anambra assembly election.
“He served Hon. Obinna Chidoka, and learnt the rudiments of politics, when Chidoka was not a member of the House of Representatives.
“So Onochie’s emergence as APGA flag bearer for the Idemili North Constituency, Anambra assembly election, which he owes to his having undergone political tutelage, is a model example, which other young political aspirants should emulate.
” They should undergo political tutelage and mentorship under renowned politicians before contesting for elective posts.
“And they should not be in a hurry to arrive quickly and anyhow,” Onyire said.
Barr. Kingsley Onochie is vying to become the representative of Idemili North Constituency in the Anambra state assembly.
He got the APGA ticket to contest that elective post via consensus after the primary election in which he participated was cancelled.
Speaking further, Onyire advised politicians to repose trust in our electoral and party systems, no matter what they have seen, heard, or felt.
“Whatever you have seen, felt, or heard, we need to trust and believe in the processes, especially when one has done all the needful,” Onyire said.
A native of Obosi and former protege of Hon. Obinna Chidoka, Onochie possesses a barrage of degrees, which he acquired from Nigerian and foreign universities.
