Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has revealed his intention to return to active politics, saying he will be vying for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made this known recently in a now-trending video which made the rounds on several social media platforms.

In the clips, Ike was seen receiving his nomination form from party officials, marking the formal launch of his campaign.

Speaking on his aspiration, the veteran thespian noted that he is running for the Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

He also promised to push for stronger governance and closer delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the constituency.

He went on to claim his decision was driven by a desire to help build a more effective political system capable of addressing citizens’ concerns.

“I am running for the Federal House of Representatives under the Bwari federal constituency in Abuja. We want to make a statement,” he said.

“I want to step into the real thing right now. If I have made Nigerians happy through entertainment, let us see how we can bring governance closer to the people.”

The movie star further took a swipe at entrenched political interests, calling for greater citizen participation in leadership and accountability.

“Let us block the boys who think they have the power. If we stand, they will run,” he added.

This is not the first time the actor has taken a shot at an elective office. In 2018, Ike contested for a House of Representatives seat under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Imo State’s Ideato South constituency.
