Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered the immediate reinstatement of the two head teachers suspended over a viral video exposed the deplorable condition of a classroom in the state.
NPO Reported that the teachers had earlier been suspended indefinitely by the Ebonyi State Ministry of Education following the circulation of a video showing pupils receiving lessons while seated on a bare floor in a dilapidated classroom at the Community Primary School (CPS) Obulechi Umoru Oriuzor in Ezza-North Local Government Area of the state.
As contained in the letter dated May 18,2026 and signed by the Education Secretary of Ezza-North LGA, Francis Nwonunku, the teachers were accused of gross misconduct denial of pupils’ right to quality education, and sabotage of the state government’s educational efforts.
This had sparked outrage and backlash against the Ebonyi state government.
In the wake of the backlash, Nwifuru stepped in and ordered that the suspension be lifted.
The governor, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Assistant on New Media, Leo Oketa, directed the immediate reinstatement of the head teachers.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers and pupils, as well as the improvement of learning conditions in schools across Ebonyi State.
