Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has refuted claims that he joined the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) to secretly advance the 2027 presidential ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Kwankwaso made this disclosure during a recent appearance as a guest on Global TV, where he argued that those spreading the allegations simply do not understand politics.
Speaking during the interview, the former governor said, “Only fools will believe that we are working for Tinubu. My supporters and I are working for the NDC and for what we believe will benefit Nigerians.”
He went on to explain that although he maintains a long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, it does not imply that they share the same political ideology.

Insisting that they belong to different political camps, Kwankwaso accused some of the president’s close associates of concealing the true state of the country from him.
Addressing his alliance with the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, in the new political coalition, the former presidential candidate explained that the decision followed careful consultations and political calculations.
He stated that his movement saw the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate as the most suitable aspirant from Southern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso noted that their alliance is firmly focused on providing quality leadership and offering Nigerians a viable alternative to the country’s current challenges.
He maintained that there is still plenty of time before the 2027 general elections to engage with Nigerians and dispel the rumors being circulated against them.
