THE Kaduna State Fire Service and Public Safety says it recorded 96 fire outbreaks between February and April 2026 across the state.
Mr Paul Aboi, Assistant Controller of the agency, disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.
Aboi said the agency also carried out one rescue operation during the period.
He said 14 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries from the incidents recorded within the three months.
According to him, five deaths were recorded from the fire outbreaks.
“We recorded 96 fire incidents from February to April 2026.
“One rescue operation was carried out, while 14 persons sustained injuries and five deaths were recorded,” he said.
Aboi attributed some of the incidents to negligence and poor handling of electrical appliances.
He urged residents to adhere to safety measures and promptly report fire incidents to relevant authorities.
The assistant controller said the service remained committed to protecting lives, property through prompt response and public enlightenment campaigns. (NAN)
