Nigerian singer and actor Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has opened up about his relationship with his wife, Adesua Etomi, with whom he has been for over 8 years.
In an interview with Teju Babyface, Banky recalled a time when he was fully convinced Adesua was the one for him, even though she was not initially on the same page.
He explained that after several attempts that didn’t work out, he stepped back emotionally and turned to prayer. Banky said he vowed that if Adesua doesn’t realise it herself, he will not bring it up again.
“I was like, I’m not talking to her again. Maybe because of all the hearts I have broken, God has now sent somebody to break my heart.
I went to God and said, ‘I feel like this is my wife, but she can’t see it. If you want us together, go and tell her.
I vowed that if she didn’t come to that conclusion herself, I would not bring it up again”.
Luckily for him, things changed after she received several confirmations, and she called him her husband.
“Banky, you know you’re my husband, right?”
Banky said he was calm after the phone call, noting that he had known her for a year and a half and had been waiting for her.
“I’ve known for a year and a half, I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up”.
Adesua, also speaking out, said that, despite being married for nearly a decade, they still hold each other’s hands all the time and sleep with their feet touching.
She said she didn’t want to marry an artist, a pastor, or a politician, but God gave her all three.
“This year, in October, our marriage will be 10 years, and we still hold each other’s hands together unconsciously all the time; we sleep together with our feet touching each other. Before I met my husband, I told God I didn’t want to marry a musician, a pastor or a politician, but God gave me all three”.
On their 8th wedding anniversary, the light-skinned actress had made a passionate appeal to God to give her 50 years with her husband. The mother of two stated that everything is better with her husband, affirming her love for him.
Banky, on the other hand, noted how someone had said their marriage would only last six months, but little did they know. Banky made it known that their bond was unbreakable and it is forever with her.
A while back, Adesua revealed her favourite things to do with Banky is to grow old with him.
Adesua Etomi and Banky got married in 2017. The couple revealed that they lost twins to a miscarriage, and in 2021, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, and another boy in 2024.
