The Gombe State Police Command has said there was no fire incident at the home of Nafiu Bala, dismissing claims that his house was attacked and burnt.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the clarification was made on Thursday through a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who described the report spreading online as false.
The reaction followed a post on social media which alleged that an angry group had set Bala’s country home on fire. Bala is known as a factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to the police, no such case was recorded anywhere in Gombe State, and the information being circulated does not reflect the reality on ground.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Ahmed Chuso, also advised residents to ignore the claim and remain calm. He assured the public that the command is focused on keeping peace and ensuring safety across the state.
The police maintained that there has been no breach of security linked to the alleged incident and urged people to rely on verified information to avoid panic.
The Police said: “The command confirms that the report is false, as no such incident has been recorded anywhere in the state.
“The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, urges members of the public to disregard this misinformation and remain calm, as the Command remains committed to ensuring peace and security across Gombe State.”
