The call formed part of resolutions reached during the association’s biannual meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State, from April 23 to 25, 2026.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the gathering, the alumni also urged authorities to reintroduce sixth form colleges as a way of bridging academic gaps in the country’s educational system.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the association’s President, Tony Eijeji, Vice President, Francis Iweha-Onukwu, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Johnson Onyekachi Owanta.

The group commended Alex Otti for what it described as visible infrastructural transformation across Aba and other parts of the state.

According to the communiqué, members visited the Aba Power Plant as well as their alma mater, which currently serves as a demonstration school for NINLAN, where they observed “significant infrastructural development in Aba under Governor Alex Otti.”

On power supply, the association praised Aba Power for delivering 188 megawatts of electricity to nine local government areas in the state.

The alumni, however, appealed to the Abia State Government to extend the ring circuit to the remaining eight local government areas to improve electricity access across the state.

The communiqué also highlighted what the group described as “massive urban renewal” in Aba, popularly known as Enyimba City, including road reconstruction, installation of fountains, and illuminated bus stops.

The association further applauded the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Radisson Blu for the remodeling of the long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel into a five-star hospitality facility.

On human capital development, the alumni praised the Abia State Government for improving teachers’ welfare, clearing pension arrears, and introducing healthcare benefits for senior citizens.

They urged other state governments to emulate the initiatives, describing them as necessary steps toward improving the quality of life for citizens and strengthening public institutions.
