The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has expressed deep concern over the mysterious disappearance of Nigerian content creator and social commentator, Mark Justice Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack.

According to a statement by RULAAC’s executive director, Okechukwu Nwanguma, Mr. Chidiebere has been missing since Tuesday, April 28, 2026, after he reportedly left his home for a meeting in Abuja following a phone call and has not been heard from since. His phones have been switched off, and all efforts by his wife, family members, and associates to locate him have so far proved unsuccessful.

RULAAC noted that concerned citizens and activists have lodged complaints with the police, but there has been no official confirmation from security agencies on whether he is in custody. The organization fears that the circumstances surrounding his disappearance point to possible enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, or abduction.

The advocacy group highlighted that Mr. Chidiebere had been publicly critical of security agencies in the days leading up to his disappearance, particularly on issues of alleged human rights violations and accountability. It warned that such incidents create a chilling effect on freedom of expression and civic participation in the country.

“Freedom of expression is a cornerstone of democracy,” the statement read. “Where individuals who exercise this right disappear under suspicious circumstances, it signals a dangerous erosion of constitutional guarantees and undermines public confidence in state institutions.”

RULAAC reminded the Nigerian government of its obligations under the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and international human rights instruments, including the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, to protect the rights to life, dignity, liberty, and security of persons, and to promptly investigate all cases of disappearance.

The centre urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and military authorities to immediately clarify whether Mark Justice Chidiebere is in their custody; publicly disclose his whereabouts without further delay; ensure his immediate release if he is being unlawfully detained, or grant him prompt access to his family, lawyer, and medical care.

The statement further called for a prompt, independent, and transparent investigation into his disappearance; protect his family and associates from any form of intimidation or harassment and hold accountable anyone found responsible for his disappearance.

RULAAC described the authorities’ continued silence as unacceptable, warning that every passing hour without clarity heightens the risk to Mr. Chidiebere’s life and safety.

“Nothing must happen to him,” the statement warned.
