Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday inaugurated a TETFund/Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) ICT Experience Centre at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, during her first official visit to the state.
At the event, the First Lady also announced cash rewards for the institution’s best graduating male and female students.
Speaking at the commissioning, she said the facility aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing education, innovation, and youth empowerment.
Describing the centre as more than just a physical structure, Mrs Tinubu said it represents opportunities for learning, creativity, and technological development for Nigerian students.
She explained that the ICT hub is equipped with modern laboratories, digital learning tools, conference facilities, and exhibition spaces designed to enhance students’ skills in a competitive global environment.
The First Lady noted that the project is part of a nationwide initiative, with six tertiary institutions across the country’s geopolitical zones benefiting from the pilot phase. These include Ekiti State University, Anambra State Polytechnic, Kaduna State University, Kwara State University, University of Cross River State, and Taraba State University.
She added that additional institutions across several states would benefit in the next phase, with construction already underway.
Mrs Tinubu encouraged students to take full advantage of the facility to develop their potential and contribute to national development.
She also commended the management of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for its collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative in expanding infrastructure and human capital development in tertiary institutions.
In his remarks, EKSU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ayodele, expressed appreciation for the project, assuring that the university would maximise the facility to equip students with skills needed to compete globally.
The visit also featured a reception hosted by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, who welcomed the First Lady to the state.
