Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election.
Makinde’s emergence was unanimously endorsed by the party’s 36 state chairmen.
The governor was officially presented with his Certificate of Return and the APM flag by the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Dantali, during a ceremony held at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The event was attended by party leaders, delegates, supporters and political associates from across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dantali described the selection process as one of the most peaceful, transparent and rancour-free political exercises in Nigeria.
According to him, the consensus arrangement that produced Makinde as the party’s presidential flagbearer reflects the unity and cohesion within the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the party believes Makinde possesses the leadership experience, capacity and vision required to address Nigeria’s challenges and drive national development.
Dantali added that the APM is committed to providing Nigerians with a credible alternative capable of tackling the country’s socio-economic and governance issues.
“The Allied Peoples Movement is determined to offer Nigerians a viable and credible alternative in 2027,” he said.
The party chairman also urged members nationwide to rally behind the presidential candidate and intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.
In his acceptance speech, Makinde expressed gratitude to the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him.
The governor pledged to work closely with stakeholders across the country to advance the party’s vision and strengthen its presence ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He also promised to promote policies aimed at national development, unity and improved governance if elected president.
