Former military spokesman Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar (rtd) and his wife were abducted by gunmen along the Matazu axis of Katsina State, sources said Saturday.
The couple were traveling in a red Peugeot 504 to Katsina for a wedding when the attack occurred.
Their driver escaped with gunshot wounds, but the retired general and his wife were taken into a nearby forest, according to reports.
A video circulating on social media showed the vehicle parked inside Matazu Divisional Police Headquarters with visible bullet holes.
There has been no official communication from the police or the military as at the time of this report.
