Eid-el-Kabir: Ifako-Ijaiye council boss distributes rams, relief materials to residents

Lagos, May 27, 2026 (NAN) The Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Usman Hamzat, on Wednesday distributed cows, rams and relief materials to residents ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
A statement issued by Mr Lateef Salaam, Chief Press Secretary to the chairman, said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of current economic challenges on the people.
According to the statement, the items distributed included rice, cash and other relief materials given to various stakeholders across the local government area.
It listed the beneficiaries to iclude Muslim communities, registered central mosques, council staff, traditional rulers, persons with disabilities, youths and the elderly.
The statement quoted Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Sunmonu, President of the Ifako-Ijaiye Muslim Community, as commending Hamzat’s commitment to community welfare and religious harmony.
Sunmonu described the initiative as a reflection of inclusive leadership.
He noted that the council had consistently distributed rams to central mosques annually, while also extending similar gestures to Christian communities during their festivals, thereby fostering unity.
The statement added that Hamzat had also institutionalised monthly allocations to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim community to support their administrative operations.
One of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Lateef Yusuf, expressed gratitude for the items, describing the intervention as timely.
Meanwhile, Hamzat extended warm wishes for a peaceful, joyful and memorable Eid-el-Kabir celebration to all residents of Ifako-Ijaiye. (NAN)
