THE Deputy Governor of Kogi, Mr Joel Salifu, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, sacrifice and compassion as Muslims celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-kabir.
Salifu gave the advice in his goodwill message to felicitate with Muslims on Wednesday in Lokoja.
He described the Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred period that reflected the virtues of obedience, faith, love, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
He noted that the celebration offered an opportunity for deep reflection, mutual understanding, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
Salifu urged Muslim faithful to continue upholding the values of tolerance, patience, generosity, and harmony, especially at a time when the nation required collective prayers, unity, and support for sustainable growth and development.
He congratulated Gov. Ahmed Ododo and Muslims across the state and the country for the successful completion of the spiritual preparations leading to the Eid.
He prayed that Allah will accept the prayers, sacrifices, and acts of worship, while also blessing Kogi and Nigeria with peace, progress, and prosperity.

He urged residents to support government’s efforts toward building a more prosperous future for all.
“I also appeal to residents to celebrate the festival peacefully, responsibly, and in the spirit of love and harmony.
